Creation Story of the Seven Clans

Today there are seven surviving clans in the Otoe-Missouria Tribe. These are the Bear, Beaver, Elk, Eagle, Buffalo, Pigeon and Owl.

The creation story described through the seven educational modules is one of many versions that describe the origin of these clans.

    Bear Clan MŲNJE

    Basic Building Blocks: Sketching to Rendering

    Spatial reasoning through visualization: sketching, architectural drafting and 3D ideation.

  2. Module 02

    Beaver Clan RAWE

    Virtuality: Using VR in Architectural Visualizations

    3D modeling in SketchUp to solve a real design problem, using Virtual Reality as a design tool.

  3. Module 03

    Elk Clan HUMA

    Virtual Realization: 3D Scanning and Viewing a Building in VR

    3D scanning student beadwork and exhibiting it inside the Spiro Mounds Virtual Museum in VR.

  4. Module 04

    Eagle Clan XRA

    Virtuality to Physicality: 3D Printing

    Turning a virtual design into a real light fixture with 3D printing, and learning how electricity works.

  5. Module 05

    Buffalo Clan CHE

    Augmented Living: Using AR in Design

    Modeling an everyday object (a table) in 3D and presenting it through Augmented Reality.

  6. Module 06

    Pigeon Clan RUSJE

    Human Centered Design: Empathy and Designing for Special Groups

    Empathic design with an aging simulation suit, redesigning a kitchen an Elder can easily use.

  7. Module 07

    Owl Clan MĄNKOGE

    VR + AR Mini-Hackathon: Designing with Elders for the community

    A team hackathon with Tribal Elders: redesigning part of the afterschool center with every tool learned.
