Module 02
Virtuality: Using VR in Architectural Visualizations

Second Fire

"You will know the Second Fire because at this time the nation will be camped by a large body of water. In this time the direction of the Sacred Shell will be lost. The Midewiwin will diminish in strength. A boy will be born to point the way back to the traditional ways. He will show the direction to the stepping stones to the future of the Anishinabe people."

Learning Objectives

Students will be able to use Sketchup to model simple structures in 3D and to add materials, and furniture to create spaces.

Students will be able to use measurements to measure in Sketchup and design objects according to scale

Students will be able to describe how they can use Sketchup and 3D print objects that they made

Students will be able to  describe professions that use these tools

Students will be able to describe how to use Sketchup with Virtual Reality

STEM Activities

Content creation through 3D modeling is introduced in this module. A basic 3D modeling software (Sketchup) is introduced  to the students and they will work on solving a real world design problem while using Virtual Reality as a design tool. Discussion topics will include parallelism between the design process and the scientific method. This activity introduces a variety of STEM related skills, such as , the metric system, making observations, working collaboratively to solve problems, and using evidence to construct an explanation.
